The UAM-05LECA safety laser scanner provides EtherCAT® industrial connectivity ideal for managing multiple sensors over a single network. The core features and user friendliness of the UAM series remain intact, while adding improved usability and functionality for machine safeguarding and personnel protection in mobile and stationary applications.
From robotic work cells to autonomous mobile robots, network management via EtherCAT® connection allows configuration, monitoring and output control to be handled centrally. Users have flexibility for programming up to five safety protection zones with a maximum of 176 switchable area patterns. With more protection zones and pattern options, stop areas can be controlled more precisely according to the application, thereby reducing unnecessary shutdowns.
Transmitting raw measurement data via the EtherCAT® master unit enables seamless integration with existing navigation controllers on autonomous vehicle systems. Encoders installed on AGVs/AMRs and connected to the UAM sensor allow for speed information to be shared over the network, thus making speed-dependent field switching easier to use.
